| “Resourses, Finance and Economic Growth”” “Human rights are not only violated by terrorism, repression or assassination, but also by unfair economic structures that create huge inequalities.” Pope Francis Our Association’s belief in Human Rights therefore goes beyond just the legal definitions of ‘Human Rights’. Nearly 50 years of Neoliberalist economics, so called ‘trickle down economics‘ or austerity have dominated politics since Mrs Thatcher came to power. Their result has been the Financial Crash of 2007/8, failing public services, increased inequality stagnant growth and living standards. Ultimately, democracy is subverted to populism and then authoritarianism, as the only way they can sustain their views. Lloyd George and Maynard Keynes proposed a radical new economic model in 1929 . It was not taken up until after WW2 and lasted until Thatcherism . To defeat the resentments of stagnant incomes, austerity in public services which and LibDems should be promoting a radical new approach to economics . Two academic economists Ann Pettifor and Dr Mehdi Chowdhury lead the discussion on new approaches in the Trouville. |
